Dr. Richard J. Jackson is a Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. For nine years he was Director of the CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health and received the Presidential Distinguished Service award.

Dr. Jill A. McDonald is the Director of the Southwest Institute for Health Disparities Research (SWIHDR), Associate Dean of Research and Community Engagement, and Professor of the Department of Public Health Sciences with NMSU’s College of Health and Social Services.

NMSU Included in Three-State Initiative to Reduce Childhood Obesity Along U.S.-Mexico Border

Childhood obesity is a problem in the United States and teams from three states including one from New Mexico State University have received a grant to try to curb the problem along the U.S.-Mexico border. The project is funded through a five-year, $4.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and as one of the subcontract sites, NMSU’s efforts will be aided through $1.5 million of the award….Read more at newscenter.nmsu.edu

NMSU’s new Fulton Chair to direct center for improving health in border region

As the newly named Stan Fulton Endowed Chair in Health Disparities Research, Jill McDonald is utilizing her extensive background in maternal and child health research to develop a center dedicated to studying health disparities across southern New Mexico and the border region.
